Go With The Beef

P/S Crispin (Woodchipper, Crouch, Flamethrower)
H/P Infested Cub (Diseased Bite, Bash, Maul)
S/S Golden Dragonhawk Hatchling (Quills, Conflagrate, Flamethrower)

I was looking for an interesting pet to use for the event, then I remembered Crispin. Crispin is fun because he sets up two synergies: bleeding and burning. Of course I’m gonna go with the Golden Dragonhawk Hatchling, but I wasn’t sure about which bleed pet to use. Snarly seemed like too good of a choice for the event, so I went with the beefy undead bear instead.

The plan will be to start with Crispin to get both the bleed and the burn going. Crispin doesn’t do great damage, so I will probably swap out to bring in another pet to use Conflagrate or Maul. From there I need to think about how to use the dragonkin racial effectively and find a way to make Bash work. I’ve used both Bash and Hibernate on the undead bear and I seem to get much more use out of Bash, even though the bear is painfully slow.

GWTBteam

W: Fiendish Imp, Whomper, Spring Rabbit (1-0)
W: Lil’ Ragnaros, Chi-Chi, Abyssius (2-0)
W: Onyxian Whelpling, Emerald Whelpling, Nether Faerie Dragon (3-0)
W:Onyxian Whelpling, Emerald Whelpling, Nether Faerie Dragon (4-0)
W: Unborn Val’kyr, Ikky, Feline Familiar (5-0)
D: Unborn Val’kyr, MPD, Xu-Fu (5-0-1)

You can watch the first six battles in this video:

W: Unborn Val’kyr, MPD, Xu-Fu (6-0-1)
I got a shot at redemption, this time I knew there was no Haunt coming so I used Crouch earlier on Crispin. Since Crispin survived the valk the MPD had use Decoy before the dragon came in, leaving it open for conflag to its ugly wanna-be dragon face.

L: Iron Starlette, Fledgling Kingfeather, Anubisath Idol (6-1-1)
Wow. I’ve mentioned many times how my Infested Bear is cursed against idols. This time I did everything right, had the win lined up, I just need to hit the idol in a sandstorm. Miss. Oh well, at least theres the draw… miss. Wow.

W: Ruby Droplet, Tiny Snowman, Water Waveling (7-1-1)
My opponent swapped a lot, so Crispin just stayed in and put up multiple bleeds and kept the fire burning. I had to bring in the beef to take a Deep Freeze, but that was about as exciting as this battle got.

May 23, 2019 ?? Date wrong?
W: Giggling Flame, Fel Flame, Amalgam Of Destruction (8-1-1)
That was weird, they fled before the first move. Must have been afraid of my critter.

W: Giggling Flame, Fel Flame, Amalgam Of Destruction (9-1-1)
15 minutes later the same thing happened. Now I need to figure out if I’m gonna count these wins or not.

W: Tiny Snowman, Blazehound, Soul Of The Forge (10-1-1)
GWTBBGWTBAOnce again I faced a triple elemental team, but this time my opponent decided to stay and battle. Maybe the person who fled was on to something because Crispin was certainly the most valuable pet in this battle; the little guy ate the trap, took a bunch of weak damage and set up Maul for the bear. I didn’t even need to use the dragon for this battle.

W: Celestial Dragon, Chrominius, Emmigosa (11-1-1)
Man it must be tough going for that achievement and not really knowing what to do. This player started with Emmigosa and used Wild Magic then Surge Of Power, so I knew it wasn’t going to be tough.

W: Cockroach, Lil’ Bling, Darkmoon Zeppelin (12-1-1)
Apocalypse team, you don’t see that very often. There’s a reason for that.

W: Mana Gorger, Felcrazed Wyrm, Eldritch Mana Fiend (13-1-1)
This team beat me earlier so I went in cautiously. Mana Surge is no joke, unless you use it without the weather buff, which is what my opponent did. I ended up two-petting it with Crispin and the bear. Crispin’s Crouch helped him to take out a pet and a half, and with Maul hitting twice the bear finished off the other half and a pet.

L: Scourged Whelpling, Blightbreath, Wyrmy Tunkins (13-2-1)
This is why we can’t have nice things. My poor “fun” team is never going to beat one of the scumbaggiest combos (blight/scourged) out there. Think I will pull out my Frostwolf Ghostpup to terrorize this team if I see it again.

W: Stardust, Widget The Departed, Harmonious Porcupette (14-2-1)
I was headed for another loss but my opponent gave me a gift; they put the undead kitty on the back line while it was bleeding. It went to zero health on the back line and wasted its undead round.

September 13, 2019
W: Infected Squirrel, Servant Of Demidos, Gruesome Belcher (15-2-1)
The Gruesome Belcher was uncommon, so the fear of facing two undead was lessened.

September 14, 2019
W: Unborn Val’kyr, Teroclaw Hatchling, Ikky (16-2-1)
GWTBCIt was difficult dancing around the tclaw’s dodge and Ikky’s debuff combo, but I managed by letting the bear eat a lot of the damage. I felt I was losing early but in the end Crispin had plenty of health left to spare.

L: Death Adder Hatchling, Death Adder Hatchling, Rose Taipan (16-3-1)
This person had smack talking names so I came back with a team designed to embarrass them (Spirit Crab, Robo-Chick, Mongoose Pup). That didn’t help in this battle. Still at 80% though, which is much higher than ever would have imagined this team being.

July 2, 2020
L: Fiendish Imp, Grotesque, Anomalus (16-4-1)
Ugg, I thought it was calm today. The dragonhawk did decently against Anomalus, but even with the bleeding Maul I had trouble getting through the Grotseque’s heal. By the names on the pets I can tell that the meta is about to get out of control, so I’ll play some competitive teams now. I ended up playing this team on the next battle, they were about to beat me again, but their imp missed and my Nightshade Sproutling killed it. Not really sweet revenge, but enough revenge.

W: Iron Starlette, Iron Starlette, Robo-Chick (17-5-1)
GWTBDAs much as it pained me to beat a Robo-Chick I’m glad I broke the L-streak. I just had too much elemental damage for all of those mechs.
